Teen
Beauty Secrets
by
Krista Michelle Arrigo
You
know how rumors seem to spread like wildfire? Well,
the same can be said about secrets -- trust me, I'm
living proof! I know some great secrets and there's
no way I can keep them to myself -- especially since
they're beauty secrets!
Actually,
they're not my secrets, they're Diane Irons' -- author
of Teen Beauty Secrets: Fresh, Simple & Sassy Tips
for Your Perfect Look (Sourcebooks, July 2002).
And guess what? She heard them from noteworthy celebrities
like SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR, DREW BARRYMORE, and BRITNEY
SPEARS. See, I told you secrets spread fast!
Join
the gossip wagon and check out these beauty tips Irons
shared with me...
Celebrity
Hair Secrets
 For
shiny, touchable hair, steal this secret from SARAH
MICHELLE GELLAR and BRITNEY SPEARS: "Use almond
oil to make your hair silky and treat split ends,"
Irons says. "Rub it between your palms, and
apply it to the ends." |
Or,
condition your hair like supermodel MOLLY SIMS does
-- with avocado mush! "She mashes a ripe avocado
in a bowl, then applies it to unwashed hair,"
Irons says. "She leaves it in for 20 minutes,
then shampoos thoroughly." |
And
to fix damaged hair like MANDY MOORE does, rub in
jojoba oil while your hair is dry, then rinse with
warm water after 10 minutes. |
More
Surprising Celebrity Secrets...
Perk
up your lashes like DREW BARRYMORE -- with a spoon!
"She runs it under her eyelashes, presses it
up against her lids, and holds it there for a few
seconds." |
 Get
long-lasting lip color like NAOMI CAMPBELL and HEIDI
KLUM -- with jello! "Naomi uses raspberry,
and Heidi likes cherry," Irons says. "Wipe
it on your lips, and it works as an all-day lip
stain." |
Open
your eyes to CHRISTINA AGUILERA's eye-widening trick:
"She only applies shadow on the outer corners
of her eyes, then lightens her lids with gloss,"
Irons notes in her book. |
Secret
Beauty Ingredients
Some
secrets are found in unexpected places -- like the key
ingredients to these beauty secrets, for example, which
are hidden in places like the kitchen and laundry room...
•
Homemade Face Peel
Make yourself a fantastic face peel from oranges. "An
orange peel will restore skin tone and even out sunburn,"
Irons explains. Whip one up by combining a peeled, chopped
orange with two tablespoons of coarse sea salt, she
says. Then, massage the mixture on dry skin and let
it sit for five minutes before rinsing.
• A Smashing Exfoliator
An apple a day wipes dry skin away. "Chop
and mash up an apple, then stir it in a cup of sugar,"
Irons says. Then, when showering or bathing, she adds,
use it as an exfoliant, rubbing the mixture on your
body, and concentrating on dry areas like elbows and
heels.
•
Frizz Be Gone
Tame static and frizzies with fabric softener. "A
fabric softener sheet will get rid of frizzy hair and
fix a wrinkled skirt," Irons says. She recommends
carrying one in your purse at all times, and when needed,
run it down your hair or skirt for a smooth, flattened
feel.
•
A Quick-Fix, Skin-Saving Secret
If you've got a blemish -- and you have graduation pictures
the next day -- Irons recommends you dab it with a small
amount of solid deodorant, and she says, it will dry
it up overnight.
