Tips from Blue Crush
 How
do those Blue Crush gals, KATE BOSWORTH (middle)
and MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ (left, she's so cool), go from
soaked to stylin'? It's all thanks to the expert cosmetic
prowess of make-up artist Tarra Day.
For
Tarra, who's painted many well-known Hollywood beauties
(including DENISE RICHARDS, AMANDA PEET, and JAIME PRESSLEY),
prettifying the Blue Crush girls was a day at
the beach. All she had to remember was that, like surfing,
looking good is all in the technique. Lucky for us,
she shared some of her very own tips...
•
Go 'au naturel.' In order to fulfill her look-good
goal of giving both Kate and Michelle a natural, sun-kissed
glow, she didn't use tons of make-up. Rather, she turned
to her beauty caboodle and reached for jane's Glow Goddess
in Sunny to enhance the girls' tans and add a touch
of shimmer.

Protect your prettiness. Remembering that looking
good means nothing if you're not also healthy, Tarra
made sure the girls' lip color was anti-chap, with SPF
15.
•
Be a daytime dynamo. For Kate's daytime look,
Tarra brushed jane's Blushing Blossom lightly over the
apples of her cheeks, then mixed two subtle-hued, iridescent
jane eyeshadows, Radiation and Plutonium. "It adds
a bit of pop when the sun would hit." On her lips,
Tarra chose jane's fabulizer for lips in Pout or Mouthy.

Make a glamorous splash. When they were shooting
Kate's big date, Tarra pumped up the shimmer but kept
the tones neutral. "I used bronzing liquid all
over her body, and mixed jane eyeshadows in Bashful
and Sugared on her eyes." To perfect her hottie-ready
pizzazz, Tarra defined Kate's lashes with jane fan club
waterproof mascara in Blackest Curl, added a glimmer
of green liner accents, and a nude lip shine.

Become a mix master. Mixing several colors together,
as Tarra did with Kate's eyes, is fun and cool. "I'm
a big mixer," she explains. "Experimentation
is a great thing."

Get to finger-painting. "Using your fingers
is a great way to apply your foundation. I like applying
cream blush with my fingertips -- dab it and blend it
a bit. It helps give you a natural look."
