Start Your Campus Existence With Cartoons
by
Rebecca Vara
When
you were a kiddie, you religiously watched them every
Saturday morning. At 14, you were way too into boys
to pay attention. But now with the Cartoon Network's
permanent screen saver on your TV, it's no wonder you're
an animation maniac.
'Fess
up, as much as you try to avoid them or pretend to have
matured, cartoons will always be a part of your life.
Whether you prefer Scooby and the gang's mystery-solving
capers, or the Power Puff girls kicking boy bootie,
cartoons can take control, especially in the style department.
Of course, I 'm not saying to head off to psych class
dressed like Wonder Woman, but you can have lots of
fun flaunting a subtle, cartoon style.
Just
think of it as your very own "Cartoon Style Universe..."
Stylin' All the Way to Class
Picture
this. It's your first day, and you're cruising campus
trying to find Andrews Science Hall. Even though you're
paying attention to the map, every time you turn around,
you catch the eye of the hottie on your tail. The first
thing that comes to mind is: Is he lost, too? As your
search continues and you're trying to come up with a
killer opening line, it begins to rain. You open your
umbrella and excellent -- he interrupts you by
saying: "That is an awesome Power Puff girls bag,
and your Scooby umbrella rocks!" Thank God you
refused Mom's icky-brown backpack and decided to strut
to class in cartoon style instead. Sorry Mom, but now
I have a hottie under my umbrella!
Today's
Discussion Is...
You
made it to class dry and in good company, but science
is becoming your least favorite subject. Cells, atoms
-- who really cares?! At least you're not the only student
suffering from boredom. As you take your jacket off,
the class starts to liven up. "I love your Pink
Panther shirt," and "Oh, your matching make-up
kit is so cute," is whispered throughout the class.
Who would have thought your love of the pink guy would
be today's topic?
Cartoon
Hall Room 301
Since
class is over, it's time to head to the dorm and relax.
But instead of sleeping, you decide to finish decorating.
A Square Bob Sponge Pants blanket and Peanuts clock
give the room much neededlife. After hours of nailing,
hanging, and positioning the bed, your room is now your
very own cartoon universe. As you get a drink, you come
back to find your room filled with girls from the floor.
"Your room is so cool," "We just love
what you've done in here," and "What are you
doing tonight?" is heard over and over.
Da
da da da da-da... Supergirl!
Okay,
it's been a long day, and you've about had it with your
admirers. You change into your super-cool Supergirl
tee, pop on a visor (so what's if it's dark?!), and
head for a stroll on the campus quad. It's sucha nice
night, perfect for taking flight... even if it's only
in your mind!
In
no time, you have made a handful of new friends (in
the dorm and classroom), perhaps a new boyfriend, and
you've even enjoyed some super-important "Me"-time!
What could be a better start to college life? And to
think you owe it all to the cartoon-kiddie inside of
you! |
