was acting before I even knew what muscles were..." |

On
staying in such buff shape...
"I try to cater my workouts specifically for
the character [I'm playing]. For the character of [Sean
Vetter - A Man Apart], he's a grappler, so I
trained for grappling. When I played Riddick in Pitch
Black, I wanted to adopt more panther-like movements,
so I did yoga and Pilates."
On
being famous...
"Once you get to a certain level, it's that
much more difficult to keep your private life private.
It changes so much. Where I was [once] an extrovert
-- I could get up in the subway car and recite lines
-- I can't do that anymore."
On
his dream gig...
"My
dream-dream-dream role is On the Waterfront,
but Guys and Dolls is a
good one. That's going to be good one and a scary one,
because God knows I'm not a singer. We're going to work
extra hard to get that right."
On
playing a tough guy with a heart in A Man Apart...
"I loved the idea of playing a character who so
unabashedly loves his wife. Characters [like that] are
rare, especially in the tough guy regard... It's rare
for a tough guy to so endlessly love his wife to the
point where his own friends tease him about how much
he loves her."
