Psyched
for Peru
All my energy and thought is about Peru
now. We had meetings yesterday from 3 to 8 p.m., and today
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. I'm exhausted! My friend Mark and I
prepared four ESL lessons, and I have to finish memorizing
the book of 2 Peter on the plane ride.
I
can't believe I'm leaving soon. (The only other time I was
out of the country was when I went to Norway with my grandma!)
I don't feel like it's really happening, and I don't think
I will until I'm there. I'm nervous, because I don't know
what to expect going to a country where I don't speak the
language. Part of me wishes it was already over and good things
happened, so I don't have to go through it!
Moving
On
Moving is a process. We still don't have a sofa -- we sit
on dining room chairs to watch TV. My celery green-painted
room consists only of a bed, chair, and a bunch of boxes.
I'm living out of a suitcase and a black plastic bag hanging
from my chair. But it doesn't bother me at all. Maybe I'll
be unpacked by the time I leave for school, maybe not. It's
a two-bedroom apartment, so at least I'll still have my own
room when I come home on break.
It's
Over
Graduation was hot -- literally! It was 95 degrees, and we
were wearing maroon gowns on the football field for an hour
and a half. I never really feel like things are over until
later on, though. Plus, I see my friends outside of school.
I
loved high school; I had such a great time. I loved the diversity,
but I'm excited to do new things. And I don't think I could
do another year of high school -- I need a new deal.
Onward
and Upward
My best friend Danny is going to New Paltz, too -- it just
kind of worked out that way. I'm attending orientation at
the end of July, but he already went the first weekend of
July. He told me you sign up for classes, meet people interested
in the same major as you, have a lip sync contest, etc. I'm
nervous about going during the last session. Right now I feel
like it's just his school, not mine.
Some
Like It Hot
I've
failed with soccer training! I was doing really well for a
week, but then the whole wedding and heat thing happened.
(My sister's wedding was fun, and I caught the bouquet. That
was scary.) Two girls going to Peru are interested in working
out, so we'll probably jog a little and do pushups. And when
I go to Washington, the people I'll be with are really into
soccer and running every day, so I'll be doing that for nine
days.
My
Words of Wisdom...
I didn't get any scholarships, because I didn't apply for
much. It was just one of those things that came and went.
There were so many other things, and I got sidetracked. So
my advice is to apply for everything!
